Under the direction of the Department Manager, this position involves creative and innovative thinking and action to plan, direct, and improve aircraft maintenance processes and business processes. Under minimal direction, the individual plans, conducts and coordinates assignments involving projects and improvements of a large scale.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of the Toyota Production System highly desirable.
• Experience in 6 Sigma usage also desirable.
• Able to solve problems with a bias for action approach.
• Prepare and deliver written and oral reports and presentations in an effective manner.
• Effectively use a computer and business software. Specific programs include but are not limited to Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge and experience in applying a Lean Operations/Continuous Improvement Philosophy also required.
Duties / Responsibilities
The duties include the following items:
• Study and introduce process flow improvements to optimize throughput, operating expense and inventory by utilizing a Lean /Continuous Improvement methodology.
• Manage large scale projects and improvement activities for the organization (includes equipment/parts specification, equipment/parts purchase, and vendor interfacing).
• Drive the organization to determine action plans to achieve maximum contribution of all resources (e.g., employees, floorspace, tooling, etc.) to achieve company goals.
• Train and provide expert guidance and coaching to all employees on the Continuous Improvement process and the principles of the Lean Operations/Continuous Improvement philosophy.
• Develop event scope sheets and lead cross-functional Continuous Improvement Teams in short term, high intensity events to achieve specific business improvement targets. Actively participates in implementation efforts and follow up activities.
• Function as Lean/Continuous Improvement event Facilitator for multiple event teams.
• Interface with appropriate leadership to implement plans and recommendations to facilitate business and maintenance processes.
• Actively participates in the development of appropriate metrics for performance monitoring.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to the Productivity Engineer.
• Research state of the art technology and business practices and implement as applicable.
• Applies statistical methods (including 6 Sigma) to analyze maintenance trends and forecast future business requirements.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee will also be required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
ENVIRONMENT:
Normal business office conditions generally prevail. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Employee may be working in a cubicle, enclosed office, or open area. Floor may be carpeted or bare.
