Summary
The Shop Foreman is responsible for the operations of the Maintenance Department on the shop floor. He is a working supervisor responsible for leading the Technicians, Repairman, Journeymen and Shop Assistants during their shift. He will assist and be the liaison between those he supervises and the parts, inspection and maintenance managers. The Shop Foreman reports to the Director of Maintenance.

Qualifications
Before becoming assigned any responsibilities as Director of Maintenance and placed on the repair station roster to manage any maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair, overhaul, alteration, inspection, certification or any airworthiness determinations and is allowed to return any articles to service, you shall meet the following:
• appropriately certificated under GACA regulations Part 65 of equivalent country certification acceptable to GACA
• Thoroughly familiar with the applicable GACA regulations and with the methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to maintain or restore the airworthiness of the article on which maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations are being performed.
• Proficient in using various types of mechanical tools, equipment and processes and shop aids appropriate for the articles being maintained and returned to service.
• Have the appropriate experience through training, employment history and practical tests and that this information has been documented and is available for verification.
• Understands the current specifications, involving inspection tolerances, limitations and procedures established by the manufacturer or by an Airworthiness Directive, of the articles being inspected and approved for return to service.
Must hold a valid Airframe & Power plant Mechanics rating (A&P) (or similar certifications and authorizations from other countries aviation regulators recognized by the GACA) to be considered to meet the qualifications required to serve as Shop Foreman.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experiences:
• 10+ years experience in a Shop Foreman capacity.
• Recent small aircraft experience.
• Proven ability to manage a team of people in a fast paced environment.
• Computer fluency to include at a minimum: Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer
• Proven ability to be flexible and to think ‘outside of the box’.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Must possess outstanding management and leadership capabilities with the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. (with references).
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
• Previous manufacturers training on small aircraft.
• A Pilot Certificate from an ICAO member country
• Department budgeting and financial responsibilities.
• Verifiable past references for past 10 years.
• No previous violations, revocations or enforcement actions by an airworthiness authority
• No legal convictions.
• No drug or alcohol violations or convictions.
Duties / Responsibilities
• Schedule all required work in the maintenance facility by assigning the appropriate maintenance personnel to the work being performed.
• Ensure that all maintenance personnel have been adequately trained for the position and work they are assigned.
• Ensure that only qualified personnel perform the work relative to the task assigned.
• Assure compliance with all applicable GACA Regulations and manufacturer’s recommendations relative to the maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair and overhaul of all aviation products undergoing work in his control.
• Maintain a suitable schedule and workforce relative to the work requirements of the maintenance facility.
• Assures that only current, calibrated and properly maintained tools are used during the performance of maintenance on any aircraft, aircraft engine, propeller, and appliance, accessory or component part.
• Ensure that all maintenance personnel are adequately trained for the position and work they are assigned.
• Ensure that accurate work orders are generated which describes the work scope necessary to maintain the integrity and airworthiness of the aircraft, aircraft engine, and propeller, appliance, accessory or component part.
• Identify and control any aircraft that is no longer airworthy due to its current state while in the maintenance department and suitably restrict the operation of the aircraft until that time that it has been released from the shop and has been found airworthy and approved for return to service.
• Ensure that adequate safety equipment is provided to protect the facility and maintenance personnel for the anticipated risks associated with the work being performed.
• Is responsible for limiting the access of the facility to only those individuals required to be present during the type of work being performed. (such as hazardous situations or procedures, etc.)
• Is responsible for the security of any aircraft, aircraft engine, propeller, and appliance, accessory or component part while it is in your control.
