Qualifications
Two years experience performing maintenance on commercial aircrafts.
High school diploma or equivalent.
FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
Must provide own tools.
Must read, write and speak English.
Pass background investigation, skills assessment test and drug test.
Duties / Responsibilities
Understands how to read a micrometer, depth gauge or dial calipers.
Selects gauge and type of sheet metal as required by specifications.
Accomplishes simple sheet metal repairs or simple replacements of structural parts.
Must be able to fabricate all parts.
Must be able to accomplish any and all repairs, modifications, EA’s, etc. with very little to no assistance.
Must be able to assist Structures Supervisor when needed.
Accomplishes repairs of a cosmetic nature in passenger cabin interiors.
Disassembles and reassembles aircraft galleys and lavatories.
Identifies fasteners and determines grip lengths required.
Understands and practices correctly basic sealing procedures of aircraft structures.
Trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs and smoothes surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools safely.
Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints, using hand tool, power tools and lifting and handling devices.
Identifies the locations of pressurized areas of the aircraft.
Opens and closes areas on the aircraft which are required to be opened for inspection.
Identifies different types of corrosion.
Cleans corrosion and treats metal surfaces per the manufacturer’s instructions and specifications.
Applies corrosion preventatives and knows to which areas of the aircraft corrosion inhibiting liquids may not be applied.
Able to stress relief metal by cold working or flap/rotor peen.
Displays ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow them accurately to accomplish repairs or replacement of structural parts.
Displays understanding of the process of relieving stress by loading, jacking or jigging the aircraft structure.
Displays understanding of the effects of dissimilar metals and their corrosion potentials.
Able to calculate bend allowances.
Able to research material hardness and accurately follow heat treatment and aging procedures.
Able to fabricate jigs and fixtures to aid in the transfer of holes to new replacement parts.
Inspects assemblies and installations for conformity to specifications and FAA regulations, using measuring instruments such as calipers, scales, dial indicators, gauges and micrometers.
Researches the structural repair manual and finds repair specifications for noted discrepancies and anomalies.
May effect bonded repairs of honeycomb structures.
Follows standards of behavior and appearance for all staff members.
Asks questions as necessary to increase knowledge or skill.
Maintains her/his work area in an orderly and clean manner.
Cleans and removes any foreign objects generated during the course of effecting repairs.
Records her/his time worked as directed by her/his supervisor.
Complies with all safety procedures at all times, without exception.
Complies with all AAR Aircraft Services - Miami policies and procedures which apply to her/him.
Keeps her/himself informed of such policies and procedures and asks her/his supervisor for explanations of anything which s/he does not fully understand.
Takes those prudent actions appropriate to the preservation of Company and/or customer assets, whether in monetary or other form.
Attends work-related training as scheduled.
Performs such other tasks as may be reasonably assigned by her/his supervisor.
