Summary
Responsible for managing BaySys Technologies tasks for the mechanical engineering group. Tasks include managing the group engineers, designers, technicians, and administrative support, as well as off site subcontractors performing work for the group, while always striving to accomplish the tasks within the assigned budget and schedule.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and eight years experience including three years of supervisory experience in Aerospace Engineering; preferably in aircraft systems and interiors modifications.
OR
Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology and ten years experience including five years of supervisory experience in a combination of aircraft interiors or structures installations, and Aerospace Engineering; preferably in aircraft systems, structures, and interiors modifications.
Additional Desired Qualifications
Mechanical System DER (Part 25 - Part 23 will be considered if no part 25 delegation).
If not already a DER, then DER candidacy will be beneficial.
Work Location
Primary work location will be at BaySys headquarters, in Accomac, Virginia. Occasional travel to the BaySys Wallops facility and BaySys West facility will be required. Other travel may be required to support other off site work being performed, or customer meetings.
Performance Reviews
You will be given a review for performance based on the following criteria at the end first 90 days followed by annual reviews:
Quality and Timeliness of the group’s drawings.
Ability to guide and lead others and support the team to reach objectives in a timely manner.
Ability to communicate on technical terms with staff and customers as required in written and verbal form.
After each review you will be given a new set of performance goals for the following review period based on your growth in knowledge and ability.
Duties / Responsibilities
Manage the project mechanical budgets and schedules
Assign duties to mechanical engineering group personnel
Plan manpower requirements for current and future projects
Select candidates for interviewing with the group. Interview and make recommendations for hire.
Establish relationships with outside service providers that can perform mechanical engineering work for BaySys. Communicate requirements, negotiate purchase order terms, and request purchase orders from the Purchasing department as required.
Provide technical support and guidance to the engineers and designers.
Support Bid and Proposal work with system block diagrams, hour estimates, and task listings.
Ensure that each individual is qualified and fully trained for the task to which each is assigned.
Regularly review the performance of the group and make corrective actions for individuals with performance issues.
Support the Director of Engineering, Vice President, and President with other duties as assigned.
Support the program managers and project engineers on requests for resources for each project.
Keep the Director of Engineering and Program Managers informed of issues which may affect the ability of BaySys to deliver on projects per project requirements.
Cooperate and support the other departments at BaySys that rely upon engineering data to do their job. Be open to suggestions on how to improve the engineering product in order to help others accomplish their jobs more efficiently.
