Pratt & Whitney Engine Services, Inc. (PWES), which is located at the Benedum airport in Bridgeport, West Virginia, was established in 1971 to assemble and test new engines to be delivered to the U.S. Department of Defense. These engines consisted of Pratt & Whitney Canada\nulls T400-WV-402 Twin-Pac helicopter engines and PT6 turboprop engines.
In 1995, Pratt & Whitney Canada announced the West Virginia facility as the Corporate Engine Center of Excellence with full overhaul and repair capabilities for the PT6, JT15D, PW300 and PW500 engine models. Today, Pratt & Whitney Engine Services, Inc. produces 60 to 70 engines per month with about a 50-50 mix of overhauls and repairs. Additionally, a fly-in service has begun whereby customers may fly aircraft into the company\nulls hangar for engine removal or on-wing repair such as hot section inspections.
PWES also operates overhaul and repair facilities in Orlando, Dallas, Wichita, Burlington, Long Beach, Atlanta and Chicago.
