-Aerospace Repair & Manufacturing (list jobs)
NORDAM, a World Class international aerospace company and FAA repair station for both commercial and corporate aircraft, Nordam was founded in April, 1969. NORDAM has 5 divisions based in Tulsa, Oklahoma and has approximately 1200 employees in Tulsa and over 2,000 employees worldwide.
In addition to competitive wages, NORDAM offers major medical, dental insurance, 401(k), retirement/profit sharing and a credit union.

The five-year contract signed by Southwest Airlines and The Nordam Group in mid-October to refurbish fan reversers for 218 of its aircraft is a major boost to the Repair Division's current expansion effort. The multi-million dollar award involves overhaul of CFM 56-3 fan reversers for B-737-300/500 aircraft. Southwest Airlines' officials chose NORDAM Repair for the work, culminating an extensive review of nine vendors competing for the contract. Kirk Joseph, the airline's Manager of Contracts, said, "We are confident in Nordam's ability to meet rigorous turn times with the finest quality in the industry."

Nordam Repair is a major vendor to Southwest Airlines for bonded flight control surfaces. The Repair Division is currently in a substantial expansion mode. Work is under way for a reverser assembly area - a 165,000 square foot addition to the 400,000 square foot main plant. Dick Clark, Vice President and General Manager of the Repair Division, said the expansion that will be completed next summer will require the addition of at least 200 new aircraft mechanics and technicians over the next two years.
Overhaul of CFM56 fan reversers is required after 40,000 of flight or from 10 to 20 years of service.

NORDAM will fund expansion overseas, as well as significant growth at its Tulsa operations, especially at the Cherokee Industrial Park, where it owns 200 acres.

NORDAM already has 120,000- and 130,000-square-foot factories operating at Cherokee. It is preparing to add 111,000 square feet to its larger facility and build a 250,000-square foot manufacturing plant across the street, said Siegfried, chairman and chief executive officer.

The addition will house manufacturing operations to produce jet engine nacelles (enclosures) and thrust reversers. NORDAM's aircraft structures and aircraft interior refurbishing work will cluster in the new building.

"When all our downtown facilities -- 400,000 square feet in seven different buildings -- are sold, we will be ready to build (at Cherokee) our corporate headquarters and prism product building.

The investment plan also includes a new 50,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Europe to supplement its 10,000- and 100,000-square foot facilities in England, and a 100,000-square-foot plant on the Pacific Rim to compliment its 40,000-square-foot operation in Singapore.

The new plants will help meet demand overseas, which has increased dramatically in recent years. And while foreign demand is slowing as a result of the Asian economic meltdown, the CEO said he doesn't expect the downturn will continue.

No matter what the challenge, NORDAM is well trained for business fluctuations and prepared to go the distance.
